Do you want to choose the perfect blog topic?

Do you want to choose a unique blog topic?

Oh! How to have a unique topic, when it seems that all topics were covered before more than 100 times? Read the post and you will see how.

There is no secret in this post, only some information gathered from a lot of hours of research. Read the post and you will notice that I had spent a lot of time to create this unique, great post.

How to choose the perfect topic?

In this part, you will learn how to choose the perfect topic, so that you can do it well + you can get some money from your blog.

Follow these steps to choose the perfect topic:

1- Know your goals: You must have a goal in your mind, there maybe more than a goal. Goals can be money, fame, fun, or something else.

2- Answer these 3 questions and you will know the perfect topic:

  • a) What are you good at? “What can you help people with?”
  • b) What are you passionate about? “What do you think about in your free time?”
  • c) What are people willing to pay for? “Check if there are some people who have built some business around the topic, or check if there are books around your topic that are successful.”

Ask the 3rd question only if your goal is to make money/business from your blog.

The questions between the quotation marks can help you answer these questions.

After you answered these 3 questions, and you have found the perfect topic, lets do a check to know if you chose the correct topic or not.

Ask yourself this question to test your answers: Can you write about this topic every week for 2+ years?

If your answer is yes, then you have chosen the correct topic. If no, then go again and ask yourself the above 3 questions.

I think the best thing is going with a popular topic, as there are already some successful blogs out there. This means that  you can be successful, too. You can go to the popular topics in Hubpages by going to this page.

Don’t go to the next step until you finish the above questions.

Let’s say  ”blogging” is the best topic for you, as an example.

How to make your blog topic different and unique?

If you answered the above 3 questions, you would have come up with a general topic that is covered by thousands of blogs out there. Now you must answer these 3 questions to give some uniqueness to your blog:

  1. What are the problems/needs/desires that your blog will cover?  You must have a specific problem/need/desire that your blog with cover.
  2. What do readers want from you? Get inside their minds.
  3. Why should people read your blog versus other blogs?  This is the key question that you should ALWAYS ask yourself when you are blogging.

To help you answer these questions, go and check existing blogs that cover your topic. Check their content, and learn what their popular posts are.

Now,  what can you do differently to be better than these blogs?

A tip to have a unique topic (the way Copyblogger did it):

When Brian Clark first created Copyblogger, it was mainly about blogging. But here’s how Brian stood out: he covered copywriting for bloggers. He is a brilliant copywriter, and there weren’t any blogs that covered writing tips; that’s why he succeeded.

His topic was blogging and copywriting.

Now think like Brian: try to be different and stand out from the crowd.

This tip is by Derek Halpern, from the eBook Engagement from Scratch. You should definitely read it.

Do you need to evolve your topic?

If you have already started a blog and have read this post, maybe you are thinking about evolving your topic.

IF:

  1. You don’t solve a specific problem.
  2. You don’t have a specific answer for: Why should the reader check your blog VS. The other 1000′s blog?

You need to evolve.

Go and read the post again from the beginning and come up with your blog topic, and then tell us about it in the comments.

But wait, if you really want to evolve your topic, wait for our next post: “How to launch your blog with a bang?”

RECAP:

There were many points that are covered in this short page, so let’s sum it up:

How to choose the perfect topic?

1- Know your goals.

2- Answer these 3 questions:

  • What are you good at? (What can you help people with?)
  • What are you passionate about? (What do you think about in your free time?)
  • What are people willing to pay for? (Check if there are people who have built some business around the topic, or check if there are books around your topic that are successful.)

Answer the following question to know if your answer was correct or not: Can you write about this topic every week for 2+ years?

How to make your blog topic different and unique? Let’s add some uniqueness to your topic.

  • What are the problems/needs/desires that your blog will cover? (You must have a specific problem/need/desire that your blog with cover.)
  • What do readers want from you? (Get into their heads.)
  • Why should people read your blog vs. other blogs?  (This is the key question that you should always ask  yourself when you are blogging.)

Choose 2 different topics. Go up and know more.

Do you need to evolve your topic?

    Hi Ahmed,

Develop crystal clear goals. See your vision in detail. Specifics count. Know exactly what you want to blog about. Feel a passion for it. Go into the creating process with this idea in mind. Smart tips here.

Many lack clarity, resulting in online failure. Target your purpose with laser like intensity. Drill down. As you add details to your topic the content naturally flows to you. You will attract like-minded folks with greater ease as your clarity improves by leads and bounds.

Practice getting clear in all you do. Life becomes a lot easier ;)

    Thanks Ahmed!

    Ryan

    Hey Ahmed,

That one thing that you mentioned that i stress about is finding out what you’re passionate about. When you’re passionate about something, you can talk about it non stop. Another thing to figure out is who is going to read your topic. This is where you have to figure out who is your target market. Once you find your passion and your target market then you’ll definitely run into people who will be willing to pay.

    Thanks!

    Sherman

The bottom line is that you want to talk about something that you enjoy talking about. Because when people utilize what you read and get results based on what you taught them, they will look forward to reading your next post!

What I do before starting a blog, is write out at least 20 posts I could write out. If I can’t write at least 20 down, then I probably am not passionate about it and therefore will not start that blog – that’s just me though.

If you choose the wrong niche, you will end up with a lack of knowledge and willpower to create amazing content. Without that great content, you will never achieve much success at all during your attempt at blogging. Great post, keep it up!

That’s why you need to answer the question. Can you write about this topic for a year without earning any $$$?

      Thanks for your comment.
